About CTS

The Collaborative Teaching Server (CTS) provides a space for the development of innovative applications and websites designed to meet the educational needs of faculty and students across the Commonwealth Campuses. All projects featured on the server are built by the Commonwealth community for the Commonwealth community, fostering a sense of collaboration and mutual benefit.

Projects

Commonwealth Campus Teaching Support

Commonwealth Campus Teaching Support (CCTS) is a website that contains information, guides, teaching resources, and faculty development events for faculty across the Penn State Commonwealth Campuses. It also serves as the home for the Fall and Spring semester Commonwealth Connection: Instructor Days events.

Commonwealth H5P

Calling all commonwealth instructional designers and multimedia specialists! Commonwealth H5P is available to empower you in creating, sharing, and reusing interactive content. With H5P, you can effortlessly craft engaging and dynamic course content. If you're eager to infuse your courses with interactive content, don't wait another moment – request your account today.

H5P Pedagogy Guide

The purpose of the H5P Pedagogy Guide is to explore the pedagogical timing—the instances—suitable for H5P interactive functionalities. In face-to-face teaching, there are natural pauses for questions, reflection, individual engagement, and interaction with concepts, and in online, hybrid, or self-paced digital formats, H5P can create similar interactive moments when needed.

ID Self-Assessment Tool

The ID self-assessment tool helps evaluate current practices and identify development opportunities across four key competencies: Instructional Design Effectiveness, Time and Task Management, Collaboration and Relationship Building, and Strategic Thinking and Leadership.

Hours of Instructional Activity (HIA) App

The Hours of Instructional Activity (HIA) app is a quick and easy way to see how hours are distributed across types of activities throughout the entire course. Users can choose to view results in semester view or week view, allowing for a more generalized or granular look at learning time. Reports can then be printed out and shared with others, including students.

Pathways to Pedagogy

Pathways to Pedagogy (P2P) is a website developed to connect faculty with appropriate educational technology tools and teaching activities that meet their classroom needs. The site links Penn State-supported tech tools with teaching activities and shows how they work in real-world use cases from Penn State faculty.
